In fact, it was this review that prompted my wife to request a dinner here for her birthday.

We ordered the five course tasting menu ($85) with wine pairings ($65). Put simply, we both thought the food was divine. Every dish was superb, but the standout was the tuna belly and the New York steak. I also could have consumed a gallon of that sunchoke soup from the amuse bouche (in addition to a handful of the classic crème brûlées in the chocolate ramekin.

The service was perfect; friendly and attentive, but not overbearingly so.

The sommelier (sp?) was also brilliant. The wine pairings were just sublime and he was very also very friendly and personable and explained each wine in a way that made it clear he had a passion for what he was doing, which I really appreciated.

At bottom, this was a revelation for us. We dont eat out too often (work and two kids), but such a tremendous experience was well worth the money.

Thanks for your review and your website, Kevin!

P.S. Also, I'm glad I took your suggestion about wearing a jacket. My scan of the room indicated that I would have been the only one not wearing one.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8667271330300336985.post-60002088508130885092011-01-25T21:26:47.280-08:002011-01-25T21:26:47.280-08:00Regarding jackets, I'd say that they're sl...Regarding jackets, I'd say that they're slightly encouraged, but certainly not required.kevinEatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13874030588556187843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8667271330300336985.post-83394173195761821232011-01-25T13:28:30.181-08:002011-01-25T13:28:30.181-08:00Hello Kevin,

As for the gardens, we actually took a walk through them after dinner. ;)

Daniel: I agree about the "fit"--the food, the space, it just works better. Hopefully Féau doesn't get too complacent with the menu though. Any plans to make it over here?

Josie: $1000 divided by 7 people is perfectly within the realm of reason. ;)kevinEatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13874030588556187843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8667271330300336985.post-64428714940690028372010-11-26T16:24:51.467-08:002010-11-26T16:24:51.467-08:00I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Kevin. It indeed does seem like they've found a worthy successor to Voltaggio.

You bring up an excellent point about how congruent Féau's cooking is to both The Langham Hotel as well as the surrounding Pasadena area. Classic technique and preparations but with a few twists to not keep it too boring.

Lastly, while off to what seems like a strong start, it will be interesting to see how Féau's cooking will progress over time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8667271330300336985.post-60156630088836077022010-11-22T23:19:51.399-08:002010-11-22T23:19:51.399-08:00You got here as soon as they re-opened, Kevin!
